If
you are the victim of a crime - or suspect you may be - call
911 immediately. The prompt and accurate reporting of every
crime to police is of the utmost importance. You must report
a crime to police within 72 hours to be eligible for Pennsylvania
Crime Victims Compensation. Once you have notified the police
and are safe call Senior Victim Services at (610)
627-2292. A staff member
will assist you with the aftermath of being victimized and support
you through the criminal justice system.
It's not uncommon to feel
embarrassed at becoming the victim of a crime. Some people
may also feel reluctant to report a crime because they believe
they may be "bothering" the police unnecessarily.
A police report is essential to your receiving the protection
and assistance you are entitled to.
